21 June 2017 Foster joins Modell at Craft-Bamboo for Suzuka

Nick Foster has joined Craft-Bamboo Racing for this weekend’s fifth and sixth Blancpain GT Series Asia rounds of the season at Suzuka.

The 25-year-old Australian partners Devon Modell in the team’s #88 Porsche 991 GT3 R, which has now featured three different driver line-ups in as many events.

Modell raced alongside Darryl O’Young in the team’s sister Porsche last time out at Buriram but was always scheduled to switch to the #88 car once Peter Li returned to his seat after clashing commitments prevented him from contesting the championship’s Thai round.

Foster brings with him a wealth of Porsche experience. Having initially tasted success in his domestic Formula Ford and F3 championships, he impressed en route to fifth in Australia’s Carrera Cup category before winning the same Pro title 12 months later. He returned to the series at the start of this season but is primarily focusing on the FIA World Endurance Championship, again at the wheel of a Porsche.

“I am very excited to be joining Craft-Bamboo Racing in the Blancpain GT Series Asia,” he said. “Personally it's a great opportunity to work with an operation with such vast experience, which I will no doubt draw on over the weekend. Suzuka is an amazing track; it's both technical and committed so I can't wait to tackle it in the #88 Porsche GT3 R.”

Foster is one of several changes to the provisional entry list first issued on Monday. With regular co-driver Maxi Buhk on Blancpain GT Series duty in France, Asia’s championship leader Hunter Abbott is instead joined by former Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup and ADAC GT Masters champion Maxi Goetz in the #999 GruppeM Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Japanese driver Masahiko Ida has also been confirmed aboard HubAuto’s Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR, although X-One Racing are yet to name a second driver for their Lamborghini Huracan GT3.

This weekend’s event begins with two free practice sessions on Friday ahead of qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday.
